Are there any prerequisites? Yes, Please interview your Mom or someone your moms age about her own birth experiences. Ask what she remembers and how she felt she was treated and then bring the interview to class with you. You will also need to purchase the book The Birth Partner by Penny Simkin 5th or 6th edition.
Are these courses online? Yes, the classes are virtual taught through Zoom.us, except for the July 21, 22, 23, 2026 In-Person Workshop.
Where is this certification good? DONA is an International program which means you can work anywhere in the world.
Do you offer payment plans? I do offer payment plans which would look like this: $275 down to register; $200 due two weeks later; $200 final payment due 2 weeks later. If that does not work for you, please contact me.
Am I certified after I leave the class? No, you would need to complete the Certification Process that includes 3 births and some paperwork. We will go over this during the workshop and I offer support on the First of every month at 7:00 p.m. est on zoom.us.
What if I have a nursing baby? You may nurse your baby during the workshop. It might be easier to have support from someone that can bring the baby to you so you can concentrate easier on the course, but that is up to you.
